Our experienced mentors will work with you to:

  • Build your skills, capacity, and independence
  • Provide tailored one-to-one support, advice and information
  • Offer career exploration sessions, and workshops
  • Prepare Individual Progression Plans (IPP) with access to peer support panels and employment supports.

“Participation in our Explore programme has the power to break down barriers. With increased self-determination and planning skills, enhanced confidence and a wider range of educational and employment opportunities, our young people are empowered to reach their full potential.” Laura Donnellan, Explore Mentor

  • Job coach support for work experience and job sampling days
  • Information on grants and schemes to support inclusivity in the workplace

_How

Explore Supports Your Business

  • If you would like to offer a Deaf or Hard of Hearing person work experience as part of the Explore programme, we'll organise an initial meet and greet with you. These meetings can include owners, directors, area managers, personnel from HR, and those interested in diversity and inclusion.

And from here the relationship is fostered and grown. Additional meetings can be arranged to include a broader range of staff who will be working directly with the Deaf or Hard of Hearing person.

  • The Explore Mentoring Programme offers a suite of supports including general advice and information, resource packs and Deaf and Hearing Awareness training.  These training sessions are tailored to meet your business's needs whether they be within the industry, retail or service sector.

Topics covered include advice and information on inclusive recruitment practices, Deaf culture, supports and services and inclusive communication strategies. We are also planning a series of regional workshops and career fairs over the coming year. Watch our events page for updates.

  • The advice, information and training we provide enhances and ensures a smoother transition during the onboarding process for both the employer and the Deaf or Hard of Hearing employee. But you are not on your own, our mentors also offer continued support pre and post induction and this support may continue for months or even years depending on your needs.
